Neha joined our Support to Succeed programme in May this year, referred by Wythenshawe Community Housing. Her story is one of resilience, growth, and transformation.

After moving to England from India a few years ago with her husband due to his new work role, Neha devoted herself to being a full-time mother to her two young children. However, this transition left her feeling isolated, disconnected from her local community, and increasingly anxious due to loneliness and a lack of purpose. These feelings of isolation and frustration started to lead to depression.

Despite her education and talents, Neha struggled to regain her confidence and find a way to re-engage with her community. Through discussions with her key worker, she realised that her passion for meditation and mindfulness, which she had practised in India, could serve as a bridge back into the local community and potentially become a future source of income.

With the support of her key worker and the Support to Succeed team, Neha worked to overcome her barriers. Together, they contacted a local community centre and explored how she could host meditation sessions for the community. Neha drafted a code of conduct, developed a safeguarding policy, and secured public liability insurance, ensuring her sessions met the necessary standards. She also engaged with local stakeholders to pave the way for her sessions.

Today, Neha is hosting weekly meditation sessions at her local community centre, helping others while building her confidence and experience. Her focus now is developing her skills and laying the groundwork for a self-employed meditation and mindfulness teacher career.

Neha’s story is an inspiring reminder of the power of community, self-belief, and the support needed to unlock one’s potential.

We’re incredibly proud of her achievements and excited to see where her journey leads next!
